Unfriendly Roomie

85

I once moved in with a friend of mine and I now know why they say never move in with friends. She was the Very Worst roommate I’ve ever had, constantly blaring the TV or screaming at her boyfriend from 1-5 a.m. every morning, leaving dishes to rot in the sink for weeks until I finally gave in and did them, never taking out the trash and leaving piles of clothes everywhere.

After visiting family for an extended time (roughly about three and a half weeks before our lease is up), I came home to find an electricity bill and phone bill for double what we usually pay, my things that I had in the living room dumped on my bedroom floor, all of her furniture gone, rotting garbage in piles and melted candle wax all over the hardwood floor.

I texted her and asked why my things were dumped on the floor and not on my bed. I also told her I wanted payment for these outrageous bills. No answer. And that was the last I’d heard of her until she called me recently. To cry about her parents wanting to kick her and her boyfriend out for their slovenly ways and her boyfriend’s refusal to get a job or to pay her parents any sort of rent.

I couldn’t even pretend to sympathize.

could go to small claims court. maybe. But probably not worth it IMHO. My hubby had a similar problem with a heavyset roomie(he wrestled and it was alot of muscle). He was told under no certain terms was he to sit on his granpa’s chair. (He had broken a chair before). Plus he didnt shower…ewww!

it’s so true, never live with friends. You never know what they do when you’re not there. She sounds like a spoiled little brat who needs to grow the fuck up.

I’m maybe missing something here, but if you aren’t moving in with a friend then are your chances going to be improved by moving in with a stranger? At the least, one usually has an idea of what to expect from friends.

Moving in with a stranger you at least don’t have to worry about ruining a whole friendship though.

But why would someone be friends with people like this in the first place?
