Bugging Out

Amanda was someone who seemed like an ideal roommate. She was the manager of a gaming store, had a nice apartment and had a room for rent.  So my girlfriend at the time and I decided to move in with her. She was great at first, paid the bills on time and mostly kept to herself. But things started to go bad when she brought home a thick stack of papers, a mason jar full of pens and the biggest cup of coffee I had ever seen. She mentioned that she had been “product testing” a game at work and had gotten “a little behind on paperwork.” She pulled this epic all-nighter, forging months of paperwork, trying to make it look like it had all been done on time. Long story short, the company spotted that and promptly fired her.

So now my roommate was jobless. She had some sugar daddy over this game who paid all her bills at first and she would basically be on her MMO all day and all night, only emerging to order delivery food or use the bathroom. Note that bathing was not on the list. She started to smell really bad and her room started to have a strange odor. Then the electricity shut off one day. My girlfriend and I had to pay reconnection fees, only to have it shut off again the next month. Then the gas got shut off and other things.

Finally one month she decided to go on some vacation and was gone for three weeks. She had told us she would have the rent money “ASAP” and we were really sweating because we didn’t have enough to cover the entire cost. Finally, a day late for rent, a check mysteriously appeared on my desk. We were ready to kick her out, but she voluntarily moved out on her own. We waited for about two months for her to come and clean her room out to no avail. When we finally went in there to clean the room out, we saw multiple, five-foot tall piles of pizza boxes and what appeared to be dried rice scattered all over everything. It was then that I realized that those were in fact egg cases. Meaning that for probably part of that two months the entire room had been crawling with maggots. The good news was that there wasnt a speck of food left behind, just a bunch of dead gnats in the window and in the room light.

I can believe them. You don’t think there are absolutely disgusting people out there who also happen to be roommates? I can. I’ve had terrible roommates.

omg. You know it amazes me that with hot water, soap, detergent and garbage cans, that people in this day and age can be so disgusting.

what is “MMO”?

“She would basically be on her MMO all day and night” definitely conjures up some images I’d rather erase from my brain.

MMO is short-hand for Massive Multi-player Online. She was playing an online video game like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, EverQuest, or the like.

hmmm, “room was covered with what appeared to be dried rice” … could THOSE be the maggots that she mentioned? *gag*

Clean up the food leftovers with maggots- how convenient!
Yeah, MMO does shit to people that is often worse than drugs… I know, since I lost my best friend due to that shit…
