Sublet Saga

red-flags

One of my roommates was planning on leaving for an extended period of time to live in another state. We needed to sublet her room in our four-bedroom apartment, so we started interviewing people. That’s when we found G to fill her room.

She moved in and for about a week everything was cool. She told me about how she was living in an apartment with her fiance, and then he suddenly broke off the engagement. This should have been Red Flag #1.

A few days later I noticed her cutting lines of coke on her desk. She then nonchalantly asked me if I want some. Red Flag #2.

About a week later, I got a phone call at work from one of my roommates telling me she is in the emergency room. I asked her if she was OK, and she responded that she was there for and with G. Apparently after coming home from school that day, she found G in the apartment claiming that she “thought she was OD-ing” and that 911 was on the way. My roommate then felt obliged to go along in the ambulance after G was carried out tied to a stretcher.

When I got home that night, I heard the whole story from my roommate about how G was so depressed the night before, that she went out, picked up a guy at a bar at 4 a.m., and brought him back to our apartment. He provided her with an assortment of unknown pills all night, washed down with alcohol and lots of coke. I guess she repayed him with sex.

She got her stomach pumped in the hospital and was evaluated by its psychiatric department for several hours. Her parents had to come to sign her out of the hospital.

She came home that night and the first thing she said walking in the door was ‘Whew! Glad that’s over!’ She then went into her room like it was nothing. We asked her to move out the next day, and after lots of tears and pleading, she finally agreed to move out by the end of the month.

But not before joining Narcotics Anonymous, meeting a fellow coke head there at her first meeting, and then letting him move into our apartment without permission for the last 2 weeks that she stayed there. I still shudder when I hear Portishead because that’s what they would always play while they were having their extremely loud porn-style sex sessions each night.

I don’t care what negative associations you have with Portishead, OP– it’s NOT coming off the ipod.

HAHAHAHA OMG PORTISHEAD IS TOTALLY THE MUSIC I PLAY TO COVER UP MY SEX SOUNDS TOO.

Not really the point, but thought that was funny.
