I have the same fear as “Pissed,” but I wasn’t about to bitch that the site shouldn’t be posting pictures of spiders on the page. I just scrolled quickly. I’m accosted by spider pictures online much more often than I’d like…I’ve learned to deal.

That said…I’m wondering if the roommate brought the tarantula in the room before checking with the OP. With the way the story is written, it seems like she did, which actually is inconsiderate. A large, fuzzy, LIVING spider hanging out in my dorm room, caged or not (and devenomized or not), would NOT be okay. I’d never move my cat in if my roommate was allergic…or even if they just didn’t like cats. I should get the same courtesy.

What the hell? You know, some people have a clinical fear of spiders and it’s very upsetting to be reading a harmless article to find a picture of one when there’s NO NEED FOR IT. That is bullsh!t. Maybe I should sue this sight for aggravating my fears and emotional distress. Have the common sense and the common courtesy to leave that stuff off of here.
