I would say that once you've decided to have kids its time to get your own place, unless you're the type to live in a commune with other people with children.

My grandma and aunt own a duplex(?) the top floor is one apartment, the middle and half the basement are a second apartment and there is a bachelor and small laundry/furnace/common area in the basement. So my grandma and aunt live in the larger places and rent out the bachelor. They had a tenant they really liked and didn't mind when she moved her boyfriend in even though its against the lease and really not big even for a bachelor but when she got married (to the boyfriend) with the intention of having kids they asked them to find another place to live. They let them take their time but really when you want to have kids its time to get real about your living place. And I have two kids so I know you could have a small baby in a bachelor but they don't say cute non-crawling/non-climbing babies forever.

"... my animals being the reason her three-month old baby can’t learn to crawl"
That takes the cake! And given your update (cops showing up etc.) in this saga, I am sure that if ever there is a "The Worst Roommate in America" contest, your story would be at least the finalist if not the actual winner :)

Congrats for getting rid of them!

Quick update for those of you reading this (I'm the one that posted the story) Not three days after I submitted this the cops showed up looking for her boyfriend because he'd skipped bail. That night he came home and I told them to call the bail place or I would because my husband could lose his job (he works security) over this. They didn't so two hours later I did. C proceeded to turn around and start calling her friends in front of me trying to have me killed. That was the last straw. We packed a bag and moved in with his father and brother. Since we've moved out neighbors have complained about the smell coming from the apartment, they've had to spray for fleas (Mind you, my pets moved out when I did and they didn't have fleas), and CPS has stopped by three more times and threatened to take her child. Oh, and since they're cosigners on the lease, they couldn't take it over when we handed in our thirty day notice the next morning. Unfortunately she's refused to pay bills this month because we took internet and cable out of the apartment. I don't think she realizes that electric and water/sanitation also have to be paid. Long story short, she'll be out in a mere week and a half, we'll gladly forfeit the cleaning fee to not have to deal with them again, and in two weeks I can forget these people ever existed. Much, much better.

RJ - I am right there with you. My little sister is my roommate, and she's the best, but sometimes she is the absolute worst because she doesn't understand personal boundaries. And I can tell you the reason is that she (and myself) were stunted by our mother who taught us NOTHING except how to play a victim. It sucks, but as young adults we are choosing to learn instead of sticking to immature and disrespectful ways of thinking.

Ugh. What is it with grown ass adults lacking comprehension of what "shared living quarters" means? They never have the balls to just admit "I don't like doing housework, so as long as someone else will pick up the slack for me, I don't give a crap" - it's always some other lame excuse.
Love this blog, by the way - it's very therapeutic as I wait for the glorious end of my lease.
