"Also, OP…I never understood why people took 8am classes. I mean…if you don’t want to get up early, schedule them later."

I went to a small engineering school and every one of my classes was offered once each semester, so if it was scheduled at 8 am you either took it then or graduated a semester later. There was really no choice in the matter.

L - Gogogo LU! I am born and raised SETX and I was able to avoid the pitfalls you listed. Currently unmarried (but not single hehe), no kids, active lifestyle, successful, and pretty awesome if I say so myself. SETX produces a lot of idiots who get the "I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE" mentality, come right back from UT to set up shop and become a pleeb. Loads of stupid, educated ninnies out here.

Sika - I wish I were as lucky as you! My degree's required upperlevel courses were all 8 a.m. The issue is not about scheduling classes, rather roommates not respecting the sleep schedules of others. If I want to have an 8 a.m. class, I will have it. Just like I don't run around screaming at the top of my lunges at 5 a.m. so that my roommate who goes to work at 2 p.m. can sleep.

I survived 2 degrees and a credential without a single class before 11:30. Then again...there was a common room where I watched my tv until 3 am, because I did respect my roomies.

Sometimes it's an elective and you can't. Besides, I don't think a tiny bit of peace and quiet on school nights is too much to ask. Especially when it's something obnoxious like a blaring TV.

A whole group really can be turned against you. I happened to me too. I have a pretty strong personality so if a similar person moves into my group, we clash right away. I usually back off though because it's just not worth the drama. Then everyone else is left with a choice. Side with Sika, who is pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, or side with girl two, who is currently demanding your loyalty. Most people will pick girl two because it's easier.

Also, OP...I never understood why people took 8am classes. I mean...if you don't want to get up early, schedule them later.

Haha! Good job, GarterSnake/Original Poster :)

That sounds horrendous though. That sucks that the rest of the sisters weren't willing to give you a chance.

l, that sucks. :/ I'm glad you made it through ok though!

Yeah... the girls at my school were either really awesome or really awful. I went to an 80% male, math/science/engineering school, so the girls were typically outcast, books-mart ones - and sadly, some of them let all of this new male attention go to their heads. The boys called them the "goddesses," and your description of your high school peers reminded me of that.

some times, some people, boys and girls...are just snotty, catty, snide little shits (fuck em!)

I grew up in SETX, whose young (republican) population is the 'oil refiner's little girl, got a mustang at their sweet16 (fucking texas), all shallow and all cookie-cutter, literal carbon copies of one another...fucking debutante destined to fall' types, worse is they all slept with the same boys and shared all the same STDs. gross. I hate kids man. and creepy little cesspool towns that are eerily more like factories for pumping out failed 'university' students, destined for perpetual dive bar party girl lifestyles, 'til they're all leathery and washed out. most of the boys seem to have ended up in jail/prison.

...orrr, the alternative, knocked up and married by 18-22, divorced by 25 and a shitshow of dirty laundry out for everyone you grew up with to voyeur. the best way out of these twilight zones is to get the hell out of state (like me:))

anyway, this sort of drama just brings back memories of the high school I went to, the type of girls that made up its majority and how headache inducing it all was. I can't imagine how bad it was for all of them when they started heading off to college to live with each other and instead learned to seriously resent each other. but I heard it was pretty bad.
