Designer Drama

When I was 19, I let a friend of mine move into my studio apartment as she had nowhere to live and I was basically living with my boyfriend across the hall most of the time. Everything was fine at first.
Until, that is, she refused to pay her share of the rent, had loud sex with her boyfriend on my futon (once while I was showering over there, gross.) I went on vacation for a week and when I returned there was a pile of dirty, decaying dishes in the sink which she refused to clean. Her excuse was that since it was technically my apartment I should do the dishes. She finally moved out after a few months and I then discovered she had taken more than a few items of clothing with her.
When I confronted her about this, she flipped out, denying it and calling me crazy for even thinking to accuse her of something like that. Well, a week later she called me and said she “found” some of my clothes she must have taken by mistake when she moved out. I went over and discovered a pile of sweat pants, old tee shirts and just casual clothes. None of the nicer clothes were in the pile. Also, I found that she had taken a few pairs of thong underwear.
The best part was that I had an Armani shirt that I had cut the neck out of. She screamed at me that she had borrowed that shirt from another friend and that it wasn’t mine. I had never seen anyone else around with this shirt, nevermind that the neck was cut out! It was a nightmare and I don’t want to live with a roomate again after this.

Ewwww, she took your underwear? Stealing underwear is gross in the first place, but it’s even worse when it’s tiny underwear that’s wedged up your crevices. :c
Yarg! I hate thieving roommates. I actually don’t mind it when roommates have shared food situations, or furniture, movies, etc. . .
But it’s like, can we just communicate about it?
Seriously, it seems like SO MANY of these issues could be resolved with a constant dialogue. Is it that hard?
I think the real tragedy here is that you cut an Armani shirt. A 19-year-old that can afford Armani and you’re destroying it.
Oi – It might have been the free Armani t-shirt you get with purchases. They throw that deal out every now and then (or it’s something like $20). Back in the day when I was in HS (like 1999), everyone and their mom had one of those shirts. I’m hoping that’s the one she cut :/
To clear up the Armani shirt questions, it was a $25 tee shirt from Armani Exchange I think, I got it when I was 17 and in NYC for a trip. The point of the whole story wasn’t the shirt but the fact that this girl stole my freaking clothes and tried to pretend like I was the crazy one for wanting them back!
