You would have been within your rights to say ‘This isn’t working out, at the end of the month you’ve paid up for you need to leave.’ You didn’t do that. You sent a passive aggressive text and told her she wasn’t allowed back for the night after ‘running home to cry’ over nasty glances. Your ‘repeated disrespect’ is a lack of cleaning, a bad roadtrip, and ‘nasty glances’. That you would take her money and then have the nerve to kick her out with no notice (either that her behavior was unacceptable or that if it continued she would have to move) at all makes you the bad roommate. Just because she wasn’t on the lease doesn’t mean she didn’t have rights. Thems the breaks when you take on a roommate; that extra cash comes with some responsibilities.

I’m sorry, but there is no way in hell I am going to let someone live with me who repeatedly shows me disrespect. As far as I’m concerned, her name was not on the lease and she repeatedly disrespected me so she had to go. I’m not going to be made to feel like crap in my own home.

When someone is paying you rent, you can’t just text them not to sleep at ‘your’ apartment that night. She paid you money for a place, it was her apartment too; your feelings and sensitivities don’t trump that contract. I don’t think I’d be particularly willing to ‘talk it out’ with a roommate who’d felt entitled to tell me that I wasn’t allowed to come home that night. Excepting genuine fear for one’s safety (and accompanying police involvement), one roommate can’t unilaterally bar the other from coming home. You weren’t in fear of anything – your feelings were hurt because she sent you ‘nasty glances’. That’s no justification at all.

Her wrongs pale before yours. You’re the bad roommate in this story, sorry to inform you.

I’m under the impression that English isn’t the OP’s first language, that said, the basic story was understandable, some things were a little confusing and needed to be re-read a few times but I got the jist.

Reading this story, I was rather confused. Surfing the net, I found many other ways to write that were the best you’d ever see. Being rather confused, I found this story hard to follow. Also an english major, I find sentence structure being backward kind of hard to read, if you know what I mean by that.
